Pune: Emphasizing the critical role of the MSME sector in nation-building, banking and industry leaders at the Banking and MSME Sector Conclave 2025 in Pune stated that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises form the backbone of India’s economy and must be central to the nation’s $5 trillion economic roadmap.
Inaugurating the national conference, Vidyadhar Anaskar, Chairman of the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank, highlighted that empowering India’s youth through MSME-driven employment is essential for unlocking their purchasing power and stimulating economic momentum.
“The MSME sector not only drives economic growth but is the largest generator of employment in the country. If banks, tax advisors, and entrepreneurs come together with a shared vision, we can build a robust support system for MSMEs,” Anaskar stated.
Key Highlights from the Banking and MSME Conclave:
- Youth Employment through MSMEs: With youth unemployment at 10.5%, MSMEs can play a transformational role in creating meaningful jobs and enhancing consumption power.
- Need for Innovative Banking Support: Anaskar urged banks to adopt flexible, non-traditional approaches to support new entrepreneurial ideas and startups.
- Livelihood Dependence: Over 110 million livelihoods are dependent on the MSME sector, underlining its importance to national development.
- Two Sides of the Same Coin: Speakers agreed that Banking and MSMEs must work in close coordination to enable the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Chitale Bandhu Managing Partner Indraneel Chitale called on aspiring entrepreneurs to identify new opportunities despite challenges and requested banks to reduce bureaucratic red tape.
Yashaswi Group Chairman Vishwesh Kulkarni assured full support from Yashasvi Group for MSMEs aligning with government schemes for employment generation.
Badhekar Group Chairman and Managing Director Pravin Badhekar reinforced that MSMEs support 10% of India’s population and called for deeper integration between banking and MSME enterprises.
CA Dinesh Gandhi stressed the need for sustainable credit support and open dialogue between MSMEs and banks for long-term viability.
